We continued riding our
motorcycles going south on Highway
93. The road and sights became more
interesting. |
|
|
|
We stopped at the intersection
with Highway 375, the Extraterrestrial
Highway. A small place selling Jerky
and other stuff had this funny mural. |

Since we couldn't get spare inner
tubes in Ely, NV, but didn't want to continue
the trip without spares through these remote
areas of Nevada (we already had two flats), we
decided to make the 100 miles, one way, detour
into Las Vegas
to a motorcycle tire store I found online. It
was extremely hot (113F / 45C), and since it was
a weekend the motel prices went up like rockets,
$350+ for one of the cheapest ones. No way would
I spend that kind of money, so we headed back
out of this ugly city and stayed in a cabin
north along Hwy 93. |

|
The next day we headed west on
Highway 375, the
Extraterristrial Highway, towards
Rachel, NV and past the famous Area 51.
Here, like everywhere in Nevada, be sure to fill
up your gas tank at every opportunity. Beware:
There is NO
GAS in Rachel, NV, even though some
maps still show a gas station there, it's
closed! |

|
We stopped for lunch at the Little A'le'Inn
in Rachel, NV. A mecca for the UFO and Area 51
crazy. Fun to see. |
|
|
|
We continued on and stayed at the
Best Western with pool and motorcycle parking in Tonopah, NV.
The brew pub across the street has good beer and
very good BBQ food. |
|
|
|
From Tonopah we went west and
stopped at the ghost
town of Coaldale, before
heading north on highway 95.
