About one hour later a Grizzly
showed up in the creek, leisurely strolling
among the salmon and taking a bite here and
there. |

The first Grizzly
had just left when a second one showed up
to fish for salmon. With the abundance of salmon
in the river the bears take a bite out of one
and then go to the next until they find a really
tasty one.

After the second Grizzly left we
decided that we had gotten more than our money's
worth and since it was getting late we wanted to
head back to the hotel in Steward, BC. But a Black Bear
on the road delayed our departure a bit. |

The next day we continued north on
the Cassiar
Highway. The weather turned to rain but
we were prepared.
The gas
stations are few and far
between, don't pass any. |

When we got to Dease Lake in late
evening and a total downpour all motels were
full. We would have camped, even in this rain,
but there was no campsite around. We continued
on and finally saw a sign "Cabin Availabe",
which turned out ot be a cozy fishing
cabin without electricity. But it was
dry and even had a barbecue on the tiny covered
porch. |

We continued north on the Cassiar
Highway with several showers during the
day.
