Downtown Loreto in Baja California
Sur, Mexico is very nice, but we noticed a lack
of tourists. Most hotels and restaurants were
open but largely empty due to cancellations from
COVID-19..
I insisted of
staying another night and going for a long
test
ride before heading back out into the
largely unpopulated areas again the day after
that.

We rode the lovely, winding road
from Loreto
to San Javier, where we had wanted to
see the mission anyway. |

The Misson
San
Javier is the nicest one we saw on the
trip, and the 300 year old olive tree behind the
misson is worth seeing too.. |

The next day, after the successful
test ride, we headed further
south again on Rute 1. At first the
ride out of Loreto is very nice with beautiful
mountains, but later on becomes flat and mostly
straight. |

South of La Paz we took Ruta 19
south to Todos
Santos, which is a very nice town, but
way overpriced. Lots of boutique hotels for
$150+ per night, we finally found a "cheap"
hotel for $100. |
|
|
|
Heading further south we finally
came to Cabo
San Lucas, which was as expected, very
touristy with lots of big hotels. Nothing for
us. We stopped for some photos near the marina
and then moved on. |

The ride east towards San
Jose del Cabo offers some nice views of
the southern coast.
