Along the Trans-Canada-Highway
we finally saw what we came for - fantastic
landscapes, and they would get even better
further on.
The camping site in Jasper was
nearly full, since many other sites had
already closed for the season. In the
morning a group of Elk walked through
the camping sites.

The Icefields Highway
through the Jasper Nationalpark is
unbelievably beautiful! There are a number of
short side trips to glaciers and water
falls. |
|
|
|
There are many parking lots
along the road, and usually a wide
shoulder where one can stop to take photos.
You really want to stop every 100m to take
more photos. |
|
|
|
The road is not exactly
technically difficult, and this allows
you to have time to see the landscape without
fearing to miss a turn. |
|
|
|
It is unbelievable how many glaciers
one gets to see along this road! |

The camping site at the Icefield
Glacier was a little to chilly for us, as it
had already been freezing the night before at
a much lower altitude. So, we decided to stay
at the Rampart Wilderess Hostel. 24
beds, LED-lamps per solar cells, running water
in the creek behind the cabin, but a nice gas
stove and a sauna. |

|
The color of the glacier
lakes is simply fantastic, and there are
so many of them. |

|
|
Lake Louise, beautiful,
but very touristy.
The "border" between British
Columbia and Alberta is also the "Continental
Divide", as well as the border between
Banff National Park and Kootaney National
Park.
