Motorcycle gloves

On longer trips I carry the tools and spare parts shown on this photo. It is a lot, but on a trip there are a lot of potential problems, which one might be able to fix with the right tools, or at least rig it to be able to reach the next shop. And don't forget that the next shop could be hundreds of kilometers away, and this is not only true for Africa, but also e.g. in Nevada.
Not shown in the photo are spare tubes for front and rear tire, one each.

Hardware Store   Multitool   Euro 9.95

I'm actually not a fan multifunction tools. They are often smaller and lighter, but of their 17 functions they don't do any well. With that I especially mean one wrench-fits-all and similar "tools". A Leatherman Tool, or cheaper from a different manufacturer, often comes in handy, but it can't replace real tools.
Conclusion: Recommended, but only for the right job.

Conrad   Multimeter   Euro 14.95

For issues with the bike electric it is recommendable to carry a small Voltmeter or Multimeter. It doesn't need to be a large, professional meter, a cheap one from a hardware store will do. It should be able to display 12VDC and to check a diode, then one can use it to check fuses and might be able to detect a broken wire.
Conclusion: Relatively small, with all important functions for a good price, recommended.

Tools about   Euro 20.00 (together)

Here a few tools that I missed in original tool kit from Honda. Water pump pliers, a small screwdriver (tester screwdriver), several Allen Wrenches, extension pipe and duct tape.

More tools   about Euro 20.00 (together)

A small (1/4") ratchet with extension and several nuts, a small file, some chalk and vise grip pliers.

Motorcycle gloves

Duct Tape   Euro 2.95

A small roll of duct tape has to be with the tools, since one can use it to rig up nearly everything. It is a truly universal helper.
Also known as Gaffa Tape and Gorilla Tape.
Conclusion: Highly recommended.

Others   about Euro 8.00 (together)

WD40 is certainly not unknown und is perfect for general lubrication and for loosening rusty screws.
JB Weld (steel reinforced epoxy) can be used e.g. to repair a hole in the engine block or panniers.
A small tube of rubber cement belongs to a tire repair kit, but can also be used to repair a tent or soft luggage.
Conclusion: Highly recommended.

Motorcycle gloves

Knead Metal   about Euro 2.00

I saw this in Mexico and for this price I had to buy it. I should have bought more, so that I could actually test it. But even if it doesn't work all that great, for that price it's ok.
Conclusion: Probably recommendable.

Motorcycle gloves

Super Glue   Euro 3.95

It is always a good idea to carry some super glue. It can, at least temporarily, fix a lot of things.
Zip ties are also essential for a quick fix.
Conclusion: Highly recommended.
