Gear review - Motorcycle Pants

Motorradhose Polo   Motorcycle Pants   Euro 229.00

After my leather pants (see below) started to fall apart I decided to get new motorcycle pants. I decided on textile pants, but with leather on the important areas, like my jacket. The selection for textile-leather-combinations is not that big, but their price is. After looking through several catalogs and visiting some shops I decided on these "motocross"-pants.

I liked them best, they fulfilled all my requirements, and they seemed to be of good quality. Unfortunately they were the by far most expensive ones too, but since I don't only ride to the nearest ice cream parlor I was okay with the price.
Conclusion: The pants are very tough, but with the leather quite heavy too. At least for a short shower they are waterproof, if it rains longer I put on rain pants. The ventilation openings on the legs are too small in summer, but it is still good to have them. After more than 50,000 km I'm still happy with my decision and absolutely recommend these motorcycle pants.

?   Leather Motorcycle pants   (bought used)   Euro 50.00

These were my first motorcycle pants, I bought them used. Leather pants are still the safest choice in accidents, but leather has it's disadvantages too. Leather is not waterproof, even if one greases it regularly. It is quite heavy compared to textile pants. At least black leather pants are hell in summer.
Conclusion: The pants were great workmanship, but after more than 120.000 km more and more seams opened and the leather had cuts and breaks, nothing lasts forever - if one uses it. I was really happy with these pants, but it was time for new ones.
