Gear review - Alu-panniers inner bags

pannier inner bags Touratech   Zega-Bag 35l+41l   Euro 89,80

With all aluminium panniers there is the problem of black aluminium dust created by vibrations and rubbing. his dust is very hard to remove from things, and impossible to remove from clothes.

To prevent the black dust was the main reason for me to buy these bags. Over time I found some more positive sides of the bags. E.g. it is very easy to pull the bags out of the panniers, and then one has everything that's needed in the tent or hotel without needing to rummage around in the aluminum panniers. It is also easier to pull the bags out of the pannier and the to completely open them, rather than to fish for stuff in the pannier.

By now I had these bags with me on many trips and thousands of kilometers, and they still show only little wear.

Conclusion: Not cheap (it's Touratech after all), but very handy, and therefore absolutely recommendable.

Self sewn   20l   priceless

Since I like the above mentioned bags I wanted one for my top case too, but I couldn't find one that would fit. So, I had to make one myself. Buying some black jeans cloth, a long zipper, and some wide black band (for the handles) at a craft store. Then cutting the cloth to size, and on to the sewing machine. After a little more then two hours the inner bag for the top box was done (I had never done anything like this before).

Cloclusion: About Euro 10,- for the material plus two hours time. It doesn't look 100% professionally made, but the bag works just fine, and that is what really matters. I am also a little proud of my self sewn bag.
